South Coast Estate
South Coast Estate is a private residential addiction treatment centre near Scottburgh, on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. Opened in 2002, it is where our group began. It has room for up to 38 people in a century-old farmhouse among sugar-cane fields, about 1 hour 30 minutes from King Shaka International Airport, Durban. Airport transfers are included.

About South Coast Estate
South Coast Estate is where our group started. It opened in 2002 in a grand farmhouse near Scottburgh, surrounded by the sugar-cane fields of the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. The house is more than a century old, has been modernised and extended over the years, and now has room for up to 38 people.
The estate is set in landscaped gardens with mature trees, in an area rich in birdlife and wildlife. The coast is close by, and the warm, semi-tropical climate means much of the day can be spent outdoors.
The ocean is part of life here. Outings include an ocean safari, a boat trip on which dolphins and humpback whales are regular sightings, with the chance to snorkel. Qualified divers can ask to dive on Aliwal Shoal, and there are scenic hikes for every fitness level.
Physical activities are adapted to what each person can do. The programme is the same as at our other centres: group therapy, individual counselling, the undiluted 12-step programme, and CBT and DBT, with a dedicated nursing station on site.

Medical detox
Medical detox is available at every centre. After a physical health assessment, a doctor and nurse plan a medically supervised detox, supported by the centre’s dedicated nursing station.

Regulation: South Coast Estate is in South Africa and is not regulated by UK bodies such as the CQC.
Getting there from the UK
Fly into King Shaka International Airport, Durban (DUR). The transfer to South Coast Estate takes about 1 hour 30 minutes and is included.
