Formerly Tharagay Manor, a Cape Town treatment centre for around 25 years.
Cape Manor House sits in Plumstead, a quiet, tree-lined suburb in the south of Cape Town. It was previously known as Tharagay Manor and has been a treatment centre for around 25 years.
With room for up to 20 people, it is the smallest of our three centres. For many people that is the point: a smaller group means everyone knows each other, and nobody gets lost in the crowd.
Being in the city has practical advantages too. The airport is about 40 minutes away, and as part of the programme, staff take clients to local Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, which are plentiful in Cape Town. Clients start building the habit of going to meetings while they are still in treatment, with support on hand.
Daily life centres on the house’s private garden and pool and its on-site therapy centre. Beyond the house there are weekly walks on the Alphen Forest trails, weekend picnics in Newlands and Tokai, and walks along the beach at Muizenberg.
The house, gardens, bedrooms and shared spaces.

Therapy fills much of the day. Around it, clients have comfortable shared spaces, time outdoors and supervised outings.
Cape Manor House offers the same residential programme as all our centres, with medical detox available on site.
Medical detox is available at every centre. After a physical health assessment, a doctor and nurse plan a medically supervised detox, supported by the centre’s dedicated nursing station.
Modern, spacious bedrooms. Choose a shared room, or a private room at additional cost.
Regulation: Cape Manor House is in South Africa and is not regulated by UK bodies such as the CQC.
