What to Expect

From your first phone call to the support you get once you're home, here's what admission, detox, daily life and aftercare actually involve at our centres.

Your enquiry is confidential and only seen by our admissions team.

Admission: from first call to arrival

After you get in touch, this is how it usually goes. You can stop at any point.

  1. Step 1

    We call you back

Someone from our admissions team contacts you at the time and in the way you asked for.

  2. Step 2

    A confidential conversation

We listen, ask a few questions about what's happening and answer yours. There's no pressure to decide anything.

  3. Step 3

    A recommendation

We suggest the centre and programme that fit best, and explain costs and what is included.

  4. Step 4

    Planning, if you go ahead

We help you plan admission and travel from the UK. Airport transfers are included.

Medical detox

Medical detox is available at every centre. After a physical health assessment, a doctor and nurse plan a medically supervised detox, supported by the centre’s dedicated nursing station.

Withdrawal from alcohol and some medications, such as benzodiazepines, can be dangerous, so detox should always happen under medical supervision. A doctor assesses each client on arrival, and a nurse oversees their detox from that point on.

Therapy and daily life

The same residential programme runs at every centre.

  • Group therapy
  • The undiluted 12-step programme
  • Individual counselling
  • The 12-step community
  • Access to 12-step meetings, in person and online
  • Didactic groups
  • Educational documentaries
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)

Modern, spacious bedrooms. Choose a shared room, or a private room at additional cost.

Aftercare, once you're home

Recovery doesn't stop at the airport.

Every client receives aftercare, on both the Standard and Comprehensive programmes. It includes phone check-ins, ongoing sponsorship for at least 28 days, referrals to recovery meetings and contacts in the fellowship. We also connect clients with a network of support groups, so they stay connected to recovery support once they are home in the UK.

Treatment questions

How long does treatment last?

Programmes run for 28, 60 or 90 days, and a stay can be extended in 28-day blocks if more time would help. Our clinical team recommends a length based on each person's needs, but the final decision rests with the client, because treatment is voluntary. A stay can be extended partway through.

Is detox medically supervised?

Yes. A doctor assesses each client, and a nurse oversees their detox. Withdrawal from alcohol and some medications, such as benzodiazepines, can be dangerous, so detox should always happen under medical supervision.

What aftercare support is available?

Every client receives aftercare, on both the Standard and Comprehensive programmes. It includes phone check-ins, ongoing sponsorship for at least 28 days, referrals to recovery meetings and contacts in the fellowship. We also connect clients with a network of support groups, so they stay connected to recovery support once they are home.

What activities and outings are there?

Recovery here isn't confined to the therapy room. Alongside a focus on healthy food and exercise, clients take part in outings and experiences such as hiking, shark diving and go-karting.
